Process Description

Introduction: Barite is fragile and like a big tube. The separation methods of Shunzhi are generally gravity separation, magnetic separation, and flotation.

Application: The process of high brightness micro powder and superfine powder. High brightness micro powder of barite is produced through the process of crushing, washing, and whitening. The production is barium salt. For example, lithopone, barium chloride, barium hydroxide, etc.

  • Gravity Separation

  • For the gravity separation of barite, the process of Shunzhi is crushing, screening and jigging. Then the high grade (over 80%) concentrate will be produced. The jig is the main equipment for the separation and purification of barite ore, which is energy-saving, high efficiency, and environment protection. In the process of crushing, Shunzhi uses the jaw crusher and applies a two-stage crushing process. In the process of screening, Shunzhi uses a simple and useful circular vibrating screen, which also has the features of large capacity, high efficiency, and convenient operation. It is very suitable for screening of barite ore. In the process of jigging, Shunzhi applies two kinds of jigs to respectively separate the coarse and fine granularity of barite material.

  • Magnetic Separation

  • Shunzhi usually applies wet magnetic separation to beneficiate some iron-bearing mineral, like siderite, which applies to barite ore that is used in barium-based medicine requiring low iron barite.

  • Floatation

  • As for the barite with fine particle size and gravity tailings, Shunzhi applies the process of floatation. According to the different adsorption manner, Shunzhi uses some anionic collectors, like fatty acid alkyl sulfate, alkyl sulfonate, or cationic collector, like amide collectors to do the floatation for barite ore.

Processing Flow

  • Crushing and Grinding: After crushing barite ore, grind it into pulp with ball mills to achieve monomer dissociation of barite.

  • Gravity Separation: Utilize the density difference between barite and gangue to enrich barite by gravity separation equipment such as jigs, shaking tables and spiral chutes to obtain barite rough concentrate.

  • Flotation: For fine-grained barite ore, adopt flotation (fatty acid collectors) to float barite and remove impurities such as quartz and calcite.

  • Cleaning: Conduct multiple cleanings on barite rough concentrate to increase the content of BaSO₄.

  • Thickening and Dewatering: Concentrate and dewater barite concentrate to obtain barite concentrate filter cake.

  • Drying and Classification: Dry the filter cake and screen barite finished products of different particle sizes through classification equipment to meet different industrial needs.

  • Tailings Disposal: Treat tailings for stockpiling, or recover associated minerals.
